depends upon, and receives, strong support from the community in order
to provide services and operate programs. Here are some ways that you
can help:
Donate money
Making a
financial donation is the single best way that you can help DESC.
Currently, 68% of DESC’s income comes from government agencies.
However, with government revenues flat or declining, and with costs
increasing, we must rely on private sources of funding more than
ever. Our private fundraising goal for 2007 is $600,000. This
works out to almost $1,700 per day.

To contribute

reputable nonprofit organization that facilitates online giving for
other nonprofit organizations, to fill out a small form. You can also make
credit card donations over the phone by calling (206) 515-1518.
By Mail

form. Please make your check payable to Downtown Emergency Service
Center and send it with the donation form to: DESC, 515 Third Avenue, Seattle, WA, 98104.
Monthly
Giving
It's easy! Have your credit or debit card
ready and call us at (206) 515-1518 and we will sign you up today to
have a designated amount charged to your card at the beginning of each
month.
Donate Goods or
Services
There are
many items that would be useful to DESC, including new socks and
underwear, clothing (especially large sizes), and household items.

or our Holiday Gift Drive flier to see what types of things we are looking for. If you have
items to donate, please contact DESC’s Volunteer and Donations

In addition
to the ongoing program and administrative costs
that DESC bears, we have special one-time needs for which we seek
donors. Contact the Director of

Planned Giving
Leaving
a
bequest or legacy gift to DESC makes you a permanent partner with an
organization
that has been successfully serving chronically homeless adults in our
community for over 25 years. Your planned gift
will ensure that
our city's most vulnerable individuals will be served well into the

Gift Matching
If you work for a company that matches charitable donations,

Matching
Did you know that some companies actually give us money for the time
their employees spend volunteering at DESC? Find out if your
company matches volunteer hours and increase the impact you're already
making as a volunteer.
Tribute Gifts
There is no better way to
honor someone you love or celebrate a special occasion, than making a contribution in a
person's
name. After a tribute gift is made, DESC will send out a letter
of acknowledgement to the honoree.
Donations to the
Downtown Emergency Service Center, a tax-exempt organization under
Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, are tax-deductible to
the extent permitted by law.
