DESC’s Innovative Opioid Treatment Featured on Two Local Podcasts

DESC’s new approach to treating opioid use disorder is making waves and reaching ears across Seattle. Our Opioid Treatment Network (OTN) team was recently featured on two local podcasts: KUOW’s Soundside and Seattle Nice by PubliCola, highlighting how DESC is helping people addicted to fentanyl access life-saving care.

In both segments, OTN staff share how DESC’s new method of starting long-acting injectable treatment is tripling retention rates — and how care navigators like Carson Bell are delivering services directly to people in their homes, shelters, and on the streets.

“We’re meeting people where they are,” said Bell, OTN Care Navigator. “We’re not just requiring an appointment for people to come into the clinic, we’re going out to tiny homes, to people’s permanent supportive housing sites, to their RV down in SODO to see them, to prove to them and show them that they are worth it.”
