Mobile Crisis Team

DESC’s Mobile Crisis Team provides in-person response 24/7 to anyone experiencing a behavioral health crisis anywhere in King County.

When an individual is experiencing a behavioral health crisis including mental health and/or substance use crisis, first responders can call on the Mobile Crisis Team, 43 mental health professionals, bachelor degree-level outreach specialists, peers and a triage mental health professional. In addition to police and fire, the team also accepts referrals from the King County Crisis Connections Line (call the 24-Hr Crisis Line at 866-427-4747) and Designated Crisis Responders.

Once the team receives a referral, they pair up, travel to the individual, provide for the client’s immediate needs and help devise a solution to the crisis. They may assist the person with getting into a safe and supportive space, provide them with resources for shelter, meals or medical services, connect them with a mental health provider, supply donated clothing, refer them to services and possibly arrange transportation to the Crisis Solutions Center or another service provider.

Services:

  • Help resolve client crises by finding the least restrictive alternative.
  • Refer individuals to resources in the community related to resolving their crisis.
  • Work closely with Designated Crisis Responders and other first responders to assess individuals for risk of harm to themselves or others.
  • Can mobilize and respond to support individuals who are in crisis anywhere in King County.
